Gallipoli and Salento



Masseria Li Capperi is located a stone's throw from Gallipoli, a picturesque Ionian coastal town in Apuglia, built on the western coast of the peninsula of Salento, in the Gulf of Taranto. Gallipoli is divided into two well-defined areas: the "old town" and the "new town". The charming historical old town, rich in ancient buildings and frescoes, is a limestone island connected to the mainland by a masonry bridge.


It is not difficult to reach some of the most beautiful tourist and seaside resorts of Salento, which are just a few kilometers from the Masseria: Baia Verde (5 km), is the best destination among the nearest beaches, suitable for young people and families. Punta della Suina (6 km), can be the alternative if you are looking for the peace of a free beach. Torre del Pizzo (12 km), is located in the midst of the characteristic Mediterranean ecosystem, the ideal place to indulge in the silence immersed in nature.

  • LECCE (43 km): framed in a purely baroque style, it’s the capital of Salento. It can fill your heart and mind with culinary, musical and theatrical characteristics.

  • GALATINA (33 km): is a town rich in history and culture, it boasts eighteenth-century buildings that adorn the historic center characterized by narrow streets and typical villages reachable by crossing the three gates of the old city: Porta Luce, Porta Nuova and Porta dei Cappuccini. The Basilica of Santa Caterina d'Alessandria is worth a visit.

  • LE MALDIVE DEL SALENTO (The Maldives of Salento) (39 km): they are among the most sought-after seaside choices thanks to the clarity of the waters, the Maldives of Salento are a triumph of enviable beauty all over the world.

  • SANTA MARIA DI LEUCA (45 km): with a unique location, in the middle between the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic Sea, it is a favourite seaside destination not only for the dreamy beaches but also for the naturalistic details that characterize the town, such as the numerous caves.

  • MATERA (220 km): European Capital of Culture 2019. Easily reacheable in about two hours by car.

  • ALBEROBELLO (150 km): town known for its famous “trulli”, white conical stone construction present in the district Rione Monti.

  • OTRANTO (50 km): also called "Porta d'Oriente" shows itself sunny and full of oriental charm to the numerous visitors who flock to its coasts and the historic center every year.

  • OSTUNI (118 km): also called White City because of its characteristic historical center once entirely painted with white lime.
